Fits can be caused by a high temperature, shock, Epilepsy,
poisoning, allergic reaction to bites or stings. Always consult your
vet, for treatment and to find out the cause.
Symtoms include, drawing back of the lips, galzed eyes, foaming at
the mouth, gutteral sounds from the throat, no control over movement of
the limbs.
Stay calm! re-assure your pet, make sure he cannot injury himself,
loosen his collar or if safe to do so take it off. do not leave him
alone. Once the fit has ended let him lie quietly in a darkened room to
recover his senses.
DO not check if he has swallowed his tongue, you will most likely
hurt him or yourself in doing so, if he has swallow his tongue flick it
back outside the mouth, dont worry if he has bitten it, be prepared to
carry out A.B.C. check and C.P.R.
Make a note of the length of time he was convulsing, your vet will
ask this.
